Concrete floors tend to take a beating over time. With constant use and having to bear the weight of vehicles and machinery, concrete on its own could wear down quickly. That is why many people choose to fortify their concrete surfaces with epoxy. Epoxy garage flooring is popular because they can handle the weight of cars, and they are resistant to surface damage like scratches.
Get in touch with Cardinal Concrete Coatings if you are thinking about installing epoxy flooring. We specialize in installing concrete floors with protective coatings and are the best epoxy garage contractors in the area, having served the Phoenix, AZ, area for years.
Phoenix, AZ, Concrete Coatings Services
At Cardinal Concrete Coatings, we can install protected concrete floors anywhere. The application method and materials we use to install the floor will vary depending on whether it will be inside or outside. We might also use different materials depending on the intended use. For example, we will use the same materials for garage floor coatings and commercial epoxy floors, yet the installation process might look different because of the vast difference in setting.
Likewise, pool decks, patios, and driveways are all outside, so they will likely all have similar materials used in their protective coatings that can withstand sun exposure. However, there might be differences in the application method. For example, pool decks are often wet with pool water, so many people choose to include a textured surface to make it more slip-resistant.
The professionals at Cardinal Concrete Coatings can install epoxy-coated concrete floors anywhere. Some of our most common types of projects are the following:
- Epoxy Garage Flooring
- Commercial Epoxy Floor Coating
- Pool Deck Coatings
- Patio Coatings
- Driveway Coatings
Why You Should Choose Cardinal Concrete Coatings
We know that residents of Phoenix, AZ, have many options when it comes to epoxy flooring contractors. We want to be the first company that comes to mind when you think about installing an epoxy garage floor. We set ourselves apart from the competition by using perfected techniques and the right mixture of materials for each project.
When you book a project with us, we will assess the site of the new floor. We will determine the materials to use based on the floor’s sun exposure and intended use. For example, we would use a different blend of materials for an indoor floor than an outdoor one with constant sun exposure.
We usually use a mix of polyurea and polyaspartic materials to protect our concrete floors. Each of these materials works to protect concrete floors so that they can bear the weight of multiple cars and be resistant to surface damage like scratches.
In general, we use polyurea for interior floors and polyaspartic for exterior floors. We do this because polyaspartic materials are resistant to damage from UV rays.
How Our Process Works
We follow the same six-step process for each project, whether it is an epoxy garage flooring or a pool deck resurfacing project. By following this process, we know that our work is complete and of high quality. We have included checks within each step that allow us to find and repair any errors. Our process is outlined for you below.
Preparing the Floors
The first step is to prepare the floors. To do this, we use a grinder to sand down the concrete until it is smooth. Once we have a perfectly polished concrete surface, we clean the work site thoroughly. By cleaning frequently, we can minimize the presence of dust and dirt that can interfere with the protective coatings. A clean worksite is also much easier to inspect for potential problems than a dusty one.
Repairing the Floors
Next, we carefully inspect the concrete floor for dents or air bubbles. Even though we sanded and smoothed the surface in the previous step, we could have unearthed a large air bubble that could cause issues with the application of the base and topcoats. If we notice any problems with the floor, we will make the repairs right away and then clean the site again.
Apply the Base Coat
The next step in the process is to apply a base coat. If the floor is indoors, then we will likely use a polyurea base. If the floors are outside, then we will use a UV-stable polyaspartic coat.
Add Decorations and Texture
Next, we will add decorations and textures according to the client’s desires. We will spread flakes of color across the floor to add a colorful pattern. To add texture, we will physically add it to the base coat. Textured surfaces are usually installed on outdoor floors like pool decks and patios to add traction and reduce the chance of people slipping.
Flatten and Clean the Surface
If we have added flakes of color, we will scrape them down in this step to flatten them. If we added physical texture, we would not flatten the surface but simply clean it instead.
Add Top Coat
Finally, to increase the floor’s durability and longevity, we will add a protective topcoat.
